Mayor’s Message

Welcome to the Town of Hare Bay, Gate Way to the Sea. You can find Hare Bay on route 320, on the picturesque Kittiwake Coast. It is only a 45-minute drive east of Gander. With a population of 970, the ocean on our doorstep and the forest in our backyard, it makes for a beautiful place to live.

On your visit to Hare Bay, I welcome you to take a walk to our lookout which gives you a breathtaking view overlooking Freshwater Bay and our Municipal Park.

It is a must to take a stop at our Boat Launch and Rest Area. Our Rest Area has a beautiful deck area for family picnics. Here you can sit, enjoy the scenery and have a one of a kind view of our natural rock formation – The Newfoundland Dog Head. Or if you feel a little more adventurous you can launch your boat and spend the day exploring our surrounding coves, inlets, and Islands.

On behalf of Council and the residents of Hare Bay, I welcome you to our community.
